Galle, Sri Lanka


Galle is situated 119km away from Colombo and is the capital of Southern Province, Sri Lanka. There are many remarkable, natural geographical features in here. You can suddenly see the Galle International Stadium, which is considered one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the world when you enter the town. You can also see the interaction between native traditions and Portuguese styles, especially in the fort area. If you come to Sri Lanka as next travel, you can not ignore to spend half of your journey in Galle. Galle is simply a paradise and best for your next travel.

Galle Fort 

Galle fort, also known as the Dutch fort. Galle Fort is the most massive remaining fortress in Asia built by European occupiers. Galle dutch fort located on the Southwest coast of Galle, Sri Lanka. This fort was built in 1588 by the Portuguese to defend the Galle. Properties inside the fort are owned by the government and also by many Dutch and other people. You can find many restaurants here to get delicious meals. It is like another country in the city. You will feel the heavenly beauty when you are walking on the wall watching the crystal clear blue ocean. It is better to visit in the evening, and you can feel the sunset here. The Galle Clock Tower was built in 1883. It is also known as the Anthonisz Memorial Clock Tower. This Clock Tower is a famous landmark and located within the Galle Fort and Galle Lighthouse is the oldest light station in Sri Lanka. This onshore lighthouse is high about 26meters—one of the main attractions in the fort. Your travel to Galle will not be complete if you don't get to see those.

Rumassala Hill, Unawatuna.

Unawatuna is one of the most renowned coastal cities in Sri Lanka. You can see beautiful white beaches and the sunny environment so appealing here. When you look around the beach, you will see a pearl white pagoda at the top of the Rumassala hill. That temple is known as the Sama Chethiya, a Peace Pagoda. This Pagoda is one of the five Peace Pagoda built in Sri Lanka.
Top of the hill, Wind that passes through your body will increase the calmness of your heart. You can see the rich biodiversity in the forest and as well as in the ocean. Rumassala Hill holds unexplained mysteries. It is rich with rare animals and plant species.
When talking about Unawatuna, you can't ignore the beach named Jungle beach. That area is so famous among locals as well as foreigners. You have to walk through a little jungle to enter the beach. The beauty of that area really can't be explained. It would help if you felt that area. For those who would prefer sunbathing, this is the best place.

 Kanneliya Rainforest 

 Kanneliya Forest is situated 35km northwest of the Galle city. It is one of the forests in the KDN forest complex designated as a biosphere reserve in 2004 by UNESCO. Sure to put this place into your bucket list for the next travel. When you walk 2km from the gate first, you can see the Anagimale falls. It is one of the most beautiful sights in Kanneliya. It is full of huge rocks, and the freshwater will amaze you once you can get a free fish therapy experience there in little conduit. Next, you will meet the ancient giant creeper when walking 200m further down. After visiting the giant Nevada tree, don't forget to go for the observation platform to see the wonders here. With permission, most of the time, you can get a refreshing water bath in the beautiful river. You will never forget the experience that you get from Kanneliya.

Sinharaja Rainforest

Singaraja forests situated between Sabaragamuwa and Southern Province, South-west lowland wet zone of Sri Lanka. The whole Forest is about 18900 acres. It became Sri Lanka's first natural site to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1988.
There you can see five cascade waterfalls and can take a cold bath also in your next travel. You will find many endemic creatures and plants. Singaraja forests are home to over 50% of Sri Lanka's endemic species. It is better to take a guide with you. Singaraja is one of the calmest and beautiful places in Sri Lanka. Don't miss to feel that ultimate relaxation here when you travel in Sri Lanka.
