I can't believe how to create like this kingdom on a huge rock. There are such an old historical value and a high level of technical knowledge about water canals, underwater showers, ponds, trenches.
Everything there was built by human hands and had fantastic architecture. Better to go in the morning when it's not yet so hot and perhaps less crowded.
The best view is at the top—a fantastic place to visit. Walk to the top wasn't as tricky as we had been warned—fabulous views on the way up and from the top. The entrance ticket is 30$ don't forget to bring an extra water bottle when you go there.

Pidurangala Rock
There are a few kilometers from Sigiriya rock to Pidurangala. Easy to climb up until the reclining Buddha. After that, the path becomes more tricky, with no clear walkways. The view is impressive through and well worth it—beautiful views of Sigiriya rock and sunset from here.
You were much less crowded than Sigiriya rock, with the same views. You could argue that the light is better because you get great photos of Sigiriya rock. There is no high entrance fee for tourists, but there are no ancient Kingdom ruins on top like Sigiriya.
they charge 500 rupees entrance for foreigners.

Kandalama Reservoir
Kandalama Reservoir is an excellent place spent you're time. It's a beautiful location in Dambulla. There are 10km from Dambulla. It's close to Sigiriya Rock, and there is a road for a drive on the dam to kandalama lake. There are safe places to have a swim or bath, and you should confirm those places by signboards. It would be best if you never risked your life without obeying those.
You can see Sigiriya rock and Pidurangala rocks on one side. Left only footprints there. It would be best if you kept the environment clean.
DAMBULLA ROYAL CAVE TEMPLE
Royal Cave Temple is a very popular, historic, and peaceful temple. Dambulla Royal Cave Temple is also famously known as Golden Temple. There are massive Lord Buddha Statues on the hilltop. Five caves are the main attraction. You can see all the nature around you from the top of the mountain with the monkeys.
You will feel the incredible energy of the holy place when you go inside the cave, and you will see the magnificent Buddha’s statue and paintings. You have to purchase a ticket to enter the cave temple. It is exciting to know the way Royal Cave Temple built in ancient times. I highly recommend visiting this place while you are travelling to Sigiriya rock.

KALUDIYA POKUNA (Black water Ponds)
KALUDIYA POKUNA is Ancient temple, hidden in the jungle. A great adventure to see it.
Follow google maps direction to get there. Park the vehicle by the roadside in, and then You have to walk for about 10/15 minutes by crossing a stream, and you come to a small forest/archaeological office.
Trek through the jungle until you find the ponds and the old temple. There is a circular path which should bring you back to the office (but I wasn't able to find it so trekked back). Worthy place to visit as Sigiriya rock.
Hurulu eco park
Nice park. You can see elephants, birds, and reptiles during the safari. You can see elephants with a very close view. There is one stopping place with a beautiful view as Sigiriya rock. Early morning or evening time is the best time to visit .

Jathika Namal Uyana
Beautiful National Park with scenic views. Only place where is having largest ironwood forest and pink quartz mountain in Asia.
Don't use this pin to put the map to get to Namal Uyana, the pin is so far away from the entrance it will lead you on small roads which you won't be able to get in to the park, you need to stay on the main road , not smaller ones, smaller ones only leads to other people's private property.

Arangala Mountain Peak
This hike is a bit challenging. But when you reach the top, it's worth it! Fantastic view and highly recommend this climb. It was one of the best places I've hiked so far. Truly breathtaking.
The Arangala mountain range consists of three hills. The most challenging path to gamble is through a hurried path through an adventure road. You can go to the Naula town by the police station and go to the hills to reach this. There is a way to go up a canal.
