Best things to do in Badulla

Badulla is the capital city of Uva province and one of the most beautiful areas in Sri Lanka. There are 230km to the Badulla city from Colombo. It's about 680 m (2,230 ft) above the sea level. The Namunukula range of mountains overshadows Badulla.
Badulla is a calm city, and there are so many places to visit while your vacation. You can see famous temples in Sri Lanka, mountains, waterfalls, historical sites, and many more. If you come from a taxi usually, it will take a 6-hour drive, but the popular transport method among foreigners and locals is travel by train.
Anyway, let's talk about the places we can visit in beautiful Badulla when you come to Sri Lanka.

DUNHINDA FALLS


Dunhinda Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in Sri Lanka. This waterfall located in Mahiyanganaya Badulla road. To reach the waterfall, you have to walk approximately 1KM into the woods in a footpath from the main road. But you won't feel tired because there are so many things to experience in your way.
The way to the waterfall is well developed.
Small boutiques with Sri Lankan foods, herbal drinks, small souvenirs could see the real village life. It is a great experience during the travel to Badulla. Note (Do not try to feed the monkeys by your hand) and Respect nature takes your time as you like and collect the memories but leave only your footsteps.

NARANGALA MOUNTAIN

Narangala is a Great place for hiking and camping, a breathtaking view, and a pleasant environment. There are 10KM from Badulla to narangala mountain. You can probably reach the top of the mountain within 1 hour from the bottom of the mountain. It's not difficult, and there no water source top of the hill. Then don't forget to bring enough water.
You can find wood for bonfire from the forest nearby, and there is enough space to camp at least six groups of people!
There are stray dogs around the area, so you will have to keep an eye on your food and stuff. Sometimes they growl and bark when you are inside your tents. Bit it is not a big issue.
At night you can see the night lights of Badulla town, and that view is breathtaking. Best experience for your vacation for Sri Lanka.

BOGODA WOODEN BRIDGE

The Bogoda Bridge situated within walking distance from the main road. If you are coming from Badulla, you have to ride 18KM. The path to the Bridge is close to being about 500 years old; according to history, this was made by King Walagamba in the 16th century. It's entirely constructed from wood. There is also a historical temple in the premises.
Taking Photographs are not allowed on these premises. If you interest in discovering the history of the ancient culture of Sri Lanka, this is one of an ideal place for you to visit while your vacation in Sri Lanka.

NAMUNUKULA MOUNTAIN, TRAVEL BADULLA 

Namunukula means "nine peaks." So there are nine peaks in Namunukula. The main height is 2,035 meters high. There are 16km for the mountain from Badulla. You can reach the mountain base by vehicle. The road condition is not very good but manageable. The campsite is at the summit of the 3rd peak. Unless you want someone to carry your gear local guide is not required. Just follow the path.
There's no usable water on top of the summit, but four bare lands for campsites are available within a small radius in the summit. If you travel from December to February, it could be icy during the night. Brilliant view of mountains scenic natural sights, Green and fresh Tea gardens, crisp and refreshing. Natural drinking water streams, extraordinary biodiversity, the beauty of the place is hard to express in words.
